What is TraceMyIP.org?
Mostrar esta postagem IMO catalog -less, Not On Label submissions are confusing enough when coming from a source that you might at least be able to track down in 6 months. I personally think that allowing a blog post as a submission release source is highly questionable, and might open the door to more "fun" submissions. Mostrar esta postagem Well there should be a line drawn somewhere I submitted a free downloadable mp3 from Radiohead a few months ago and it got removed.
Mostrar esta postagem Oh man, this cannot be valid Mostrar esta postagem choenyi i'd make the simple suggestions to clean up the entry, but what about these? Mostrar esta postagem Jayfive editado over 11 years ago nik Discogs only catalogs items that have been released to the general public Befor we go anywhere lets see if we cant deal with one of nik 'little moments' with more discussion and less ranting melodrama shall we? Lord knows theres been enough of that in the last 4 months. I know of one sub-forum off-discogs where this thread will get pride of place But I digress. IMO A streaming track on a myspace player is not for the purposes of discogs a 'release'. For one thing you cant always download it.
Also, in the case of the Benny Benassi remix, there is no artwork, so what is that image doing there? If you cant see anything in the guidelines, I suggest you change the guidelines. I understand your policy of inclusion over exclusion but this is taking it a step too far.
It that case, ive got 4 tracks I made on my own myspace page. Im going to submit them. Lets see what happens :. I strongly urge you to think this through thoroughly nik. This opens the floodgates in a such a way that there will be no stopping just about anything to be submitted. Is this how we want the database to look like - clustered with random files from the average Joe? Not to mention the queue size is already growing out of proportion since many of the knowledgable mods left the site after the v4 implementation. This is not a step that should be taken, do you have any idea how much junk stuff that will be eligible for inclusion?
Mostrar esta postagem Jayfive If you cant see anything in the guidelines, I suggest you change the guidelines. Right on spot. And sorry for the melodrama Jayfive , I guess I should walk away from my computer and come back later on.
A very measured response under the circumstances :D. Mostrar esta postagem Jayfive under the circumstances :D Yeah, maybe you're right considering the circumstances. Why would this example be forbidden, yet we catalog NOL white label 12" with no artist or track info, or one off cassettes? The artwork seems to be connected to the release, but without access to the release itself, I can't say if it is a valid part of it or not.
Mostrar esta postagem SmotheredHope editado over 11 years ago nik The artwork seems to be connected to the release, but without access to the release itself, I can't say if it is a valid part of it or not. If you check the history of the sub you can see that the submitter is not even clear about the name of the artist.
But maybe that's a non-issue here since the real MAJOR one is that correct voting this into the db will make every file on the internet eligible. Maybe because it takes a little more to go ahead and press a WL 12" as opposed to recording a burp and put it up for "download" as Jayfive pointed out I don't think it's even possible to download, just to listen via the Myspace player?

However, myspace also offers a feature where artists can get a little "music store" widget to sell their tracks and set their own price - maybe even free I think? Mostrar esta postagem nik You should resubmit that probably - do you have a link to the draft? Strangely a 'record' of the removal sits in 'my contributions' list. Is there anyway I can remove this data? Regardless, I will copy the info and resubmit. Although this is a valid, logical, point. Mostrar esta postagem I allways felt that adding mp3-files to the database would end up in a desaster, now I see why, when nik says: nik I don't see anything in the guidelines outlining why this wouldn't be valid Come on, this MUST NOT be allowed, It's even to silly to give reasons for that as it is so obvious.
And reasons are given enough in this thread. So then would you be saying that you have to be an artist of a certain calibre to have your releases on discogs? Or perhaps, have had to have had physical releases first to constitute digital ones? Maybe we could say only digital files that come from netlabels or certain websites are allowed. Well, myspace is a website, not dedicated to releasing audio, but nonetheless has the capability and so therefore does.
It isn't the main aim of the BBC website, but it can, and does, release these type of files from time to time.

Personally I wouldn't like to see it go this route, but it already has. And based on what I just said, how could I disagree. Mostrar esta postagem But half the time tracks on myspace are previews of upcoming releases or unreleased material. Even the artist themselves doesnt consider them a release, so why should we. What happens if its only a clip of the track? Do we include it then? Just to be clear - are you suggesting we document every single piece of audio on every single website capable of hosting audio?
